The Ponca City Board of Commissioners held a virtual meeting on Tuesday night and discussed the upcoming Fourth of July fireworks display at Lake Ponca.
Commissioners approved a contract in the amount of $30,000 with Western Enterprises to conduct the display.
Also on the agenda was the vote on Amendment number 2 to LBR for Professional Airport Consulting Services for the Rehabilitate Runway 17-35 and Improve Drainage Project at the Ponca City Regional Airport. This item was also approved.
The City Manager’s Report discussed the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste event on May 30 at the Phillips 66 parking lot on the corner of South Avenue and Pine Street.
Household Hazardous Waste volunteers are needed for this on Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. for no more than 30 minutes of training and then for the event on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. With each four-hour shift each volunteer will receive a T-shirt and refreshments will also be available. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and each volunteer will be issued a mask, gloves and a safety vest.

Monte R. Lee sent out bid packets for Phases 2 and 3 of the Ponca City Broadband Project on May 6, 2020. There will be a mandatory pre-bid meeting on May 28, which will also be virtual, for vendors. Bids will be open on June 11, 2020 with a potential contract award at the last meeting on June 22, 2020.
Also discussed at the meeting was that ADG is finalizing the plans for the bidding of the new police station.
It is anticipated that bids packets will be sent out soon with an anticipated bid opening sometime in June with a contract to follow after reviews of the bid.
The Utility Authority Meeting immediately followed the regular meeting. Payments for the projects by Klassmeyer Construction of the Phase 1 Fiber to the Home Project in the amount of $72,598.12 and the construction contract with Restek Inc. of Edmond in the added amount of $10,902,92 for the Lake Ponca Dam Spillway Crest Repair Project were both approved.
